Book Review of J Hudson Taylor

I am currently reading "J Hudson Taylor, God's Man In China." Having been introduced to missions very early in my Christian journey, as well as having been a missionary myself, and having read many, many missionary books, I don't know how I missed this one.

Recently some very dear friends of mine left for the mission field and recommended this book that they had recently read. I realized I had not yet read Hudson Taylor's story and I found this book in our church library.

As this whole blog is about the life of faith, I could not help but think as I read this book that this man understood the life of faith better than any other human being that I have read about. I have just finished reading Chapter 18, The Faithfulness of God. If you have studied at all Hebrews 4:10 "for anyone who enters God's rest also rests from his own work, just as God did from his," and struggled with just what it means (experientially), you will see in the life of Hudson Taylor, that he truly attained and lived the live of rest that God speaks about.

I hope you will read it!

The picture is a nice touch for those who don't know you when they "stumble?" on to your blog. You are right when you say our trials today are nothing. You have to almost put yourself literally in harms way, go out on the proverbial limb to find that faith. Although some find it through their ordinary lives. Sitting comfortably at home doesn't usually do the trick.
I think Hudson Taylor is way over my head. Like that weather guy this morning. I pretty much consider myself a toddler Christian in what I know. I passed the baby stage. Keep writing and I'll keep remembering to check your blog.
